AMRITSAR: The country-wide Shaheedi Nagar Kirtan, started by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee from Assam in connection with the 350th centenary of the martyrdom of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, was warmly welcomed by the devotees at various places in the country's capital Delhi for the past five days. After passing through many states, this Nagar Kirtan reached Delhi on October 22 and after that, after giving darshan to the devotees in different parts of the city for 4 days, it left from Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib today.
On this occasion, Jathedar Akal Takht Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that with this initiative of the Shiromani Committee, the message of Guru's history has gone all over the world.
He said that the history created by the ninth Guru by sacrificing himself to protect the religion of others is unparalleled anywhere else. He said that the large gathering of devotees in the capital to welcome the Nagar Kirtan shows that Sikhism is still prevalent in Delhi.
Talking about the welcome of the Nagar Kirtan by the administrators of various temples, he said that such brotherhood will always remain.
In the decorated religious hall at the Gurdwara Sahib, the Hazuri Raagi Jatha of Sri Darbar Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan and Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Baljit Singh also shared the history of the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, with the congregation.
Addressing the gathering at the time of departure from Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that as this Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the centenary of the martyrdom of the ninth Guru is progressing step by step, the enthusiasm of the devotees is also increasing. The way the devotees welcomed the Nagar Kirtan in the country's capital Delhi is their respect and dedication towards Guru Sahib.
