SGPC President asks center to take immediate steps for the safety of the Gurdwaras and Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Iran and Israel

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has asked the Government of India to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the Gurdwara Sahibs and the sacred Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji located there in view of the ongoing war situation in Iran and Israel.

Advocate Dhami said in a statement that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is supreme for the Sikh community, whose respect and protection is of utmost importance for the Sikh Panth.

He said that due to the current critical situation of war in Iran and Israel, it is the responsibility of the governments to ensure the safety of the Gurdwara Sahibs and the sacred forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji located there.

He further said that the Government of India should use its diplomatic relations and international forums to contact the governments of Iran and Israel and ensure that the Gurdwara Sahibs and the sacred forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are not harmed in any way and that their respect is maintained.

Along with this, Advocate Dhami appealed to the Sikhs living in Iran and Israel to contact the local governments and concerned authorities to ensure the safety of the Gurdwara Sahibs and the sacred forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

He said that the Shiromani Committee is keeping a close eye on this matter and expects the Government of India to take immediate action on this sensitive matter.

Meanwhile in another press release Bhartiya Janta Party ( BJP ) state spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar to bring the sacred Bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Iran to India with respect until the normal situation returns and he. also appealed the government to bring Indian citizens as well as Hindus and Sikhs living there safely to India.
