Row over Uttrakhand CM visit: Incumbent management committee of Gurdwara Nanakmata Sahib resigned

AMRITSAR: A three-member committee of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent on the directions of Sri Akal Takht Sahib visited Gurdwara Nanakmata Sahib to investigate into the violation of Maryada (code of conduct) while welcoming Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on his arrival at Gurdwara Sri Nanakmata Sahib.

Giving information in this regard, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that as per the directions of Jathedar, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, a three-member committee of SGPC including additional head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, head pracharak (preacher) of SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee Bhai Sarabjit Singh Dhotian and in-charge religious investigations Ajit Singh was sent to Uttarakhand.

“The committee investigated the whole matter and recorded the statements of the management. As per the demand of the Sangat (congregation), the present management committee of Gurdwara Nanakmata Sahib has resigned from its post”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She said, after the resignation by the incumbent management committee, a five-member executive committee from among the Sangat has been constituted by the SGPC panel, which includes Jarnail Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Jasbir Singh and Amarjeet Singh, to look after the management of Gurdwara Nanakmata Sahib till further orders. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the enquiry team sent by the SGPC would soon submit its report to Jathedar, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and further action would be taken on the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
