SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineers’ Association (JKEEGA) today held a one-day protest in Jammu and Srinagar flaying the state government for over delayed regularisation and demanded immediate action on the regularisation of engineers in the Power Development Department (PDD).
The protest came after the government failed to implement the 2019 decision of the State Administrative Council (SAC), which called for the regularisation of all PDD engineers without referring the matter to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
JKEEGA President r Pirzada Hidayatullah said at SriNagar that it is highly unfortunate that despite the passage of several months, the government has failed to issue the minutes of the regularisation meeting. This delay only deepens the frustration among power engineers and raises doubts about the sincerity of the process.
JKEEGA General Secretary Sachin Tickoo said that they staged a massive day long protest here at Glandi Narwal Complex and Bemina Complex PDD in Jammu and Srinagar against the administrative apathy on the issue of Regularisation and diversion of promotion cadre Posts of PDD to PDC. –
Shailender Dubey, Chairman All India Power Engineer Federation (AIPEF) said that they fully support the long pending demands of engineers and urged the chief minister to look into the matter without further delay.
The government not having been able to regularise even one Engineer of PDD in the previous four years , despite the State Administrative Council in its meeting held in 2019 had directed the proposal for regular promotions of the Power development department be processed on fast-track .
The protesting Chief Engineers/Superintending Engineers while speaking at the venue described the absolute apathy faced by them as they are superannuating in the grades of Assistant Engineers or even Junior Engineers. The association took all democratic means apprised Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and other officers were exercised, but all in vain
Sachin Tickoo informed that there are presently 2 Managing Directors, 4 Executive Directors. 9 chief engineers , 19 Superintending engineers , 72 executive engineers , 148 assistant executive engineers , 436 junior engineers posts are vacant. The situation is alarming, affecting the delivery of quality services to the public at large.
Pirzada Hidayatullahsaid that if demands were not met they would intensify the protest.
