Lakhimpur Khiri case: Advocate panel formed to provide legal aid to farmers

NEW DELHI: A four-member legal committee of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha comprising Advocate Prem Singh Bhangu, Dharminder Malik, Raminder Singh Patiala and Advocate Poonam Kaushik has been visited lakhimpur khiri and formed a seven-member team of lawyers. The seven-member team will pursue legal fight against the accused in the Lakhimpur Khiri case, including main accused Ashish Mishra.

The team comprises of Senior Advocate Suresh Kumar Munna, Advocate Harjeet Singh, Advocate Anupam Verma, Advocate Mohammad Khawaja, Advocate Yadvinder Verma, Advocate Surinder Singh and Advocate Israr Ahmed.In addition, a team of volunteers from farmers' organizations has been also formed which will coordinate with a 7-member team of lawyers as required to assist in legal proceedings.

SKM Legal Committee also met the police officers of the SIT formed in the Lakhimpur incident and demanded immediate release of the two farmers arrested in the incident as well as immediate stop of the police notices being sent to farmers in FIR no.220 which has been registered against the unknown persons.Committee also remind the SIT officers that the Apex court has been monitoring and issued the direction in FIR 219 in which complainant was the aggrieved farmers. He also warned of a struggle if the demands were not met.

Releasing a press statement, Prem Singh Bhangu and Raminder Singh Patiala said that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha would fight for the dismissal and arrest of Ajay Kumar Mishra, Minister of State for Home Affairs, as well as pursue legal fight for the punishment of the culprits.
