NEW DELHI: Samyukta Kisan Morcha took cognizance of the statement of Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, where he appealed to the protesting farmers to end the agitation and return home. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha reminds Shri Tomar that several issues are still pending and they have been clearly listed in the SKM's letter to the PM on November 21.
The government must discuss these pending issues with the five-member committee that has been constituted for this purpose in the SKM meeting yesterday. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has expressed the hope that before December 7, the Union Government will hold talks and discuss and settle all the remaining issues.
Meanwhile, the first round of talks of the Haryana SKM with the Haryana government regarding the withdrawal of fake police cases and compensation to the martyrs have been held on December 3 and some progress has been made. The Punjab government has also given concrete assurances in this direction.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha is waiting for the decision of the governments to withdraw the cases filed in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as well as in other states. Samyukta Kisan Morcha believes that the Union Government should come forward to take the responsibility for the compensation to 708 martyr farmers.
All the permanent morchas started during the movement led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha are continuing as is. The morcha has completed 357 days in Wardha (Maharashtra), 321 days in Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan), 81 days in Seoni (Madhya Pradesh) and 337 days in Rewa (MP). In the states including Punjab, Haryana, dharnas are going on and meetings and discussions are going on in various states regarding the future nature of the movement of farmers' organizations.
After the victory of the farmers' movement, news of farmers' organizations taking out victory processions from across the country and the supporting organizations being felicitated are being received continuously from Rewari and across the country.
The next meeting of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha will be held on December 7 in which the future course of the movement will be decided.
