DSGMC dedicates Bala Sahib Hospital to people of Delhi

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today dedicated Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Gurdwara Bala Sahib after performing ’Ardas’.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion DSGMC President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka said that the hospital will be run as an ultra modern multi-utility facility but the patients will be charged on a par with what government hospitals are charging. He adds that the OPD in the hospital will be free of cost.

S. Kalka informed that in 2019 when S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa took over as President of DSGMC and he took over as the General Secretary, “We started efforts to start the hospital and a free dialysis centre was opened, ” he said, adding that so far 90, 000 have taken place but not a single penny was charged. “We do not have a billing counter in the hospital, ” he informed.

DSGMC president informed that before S. Sirsa and he took over the efforts of the previous was to crate hurdles in starting the hospital. He adds that during the tird wave of Covid-19, a pandemic wing was set up and later efforts were made to start different wings for treatment of the people cutting across caste, color and creed.

“We have departments such nephrology, urology, gynecology, pediatrics, etc and have two intensive care units (ICU), a pediatrics ICU, latest CT scan and ultrasound facilities and consultant doctors for different departments, ” informed S. Kalka.

He also conveyed gratitude to Kar Sewa Waley Baba Ji - Baba Bachan Singh Ji, Baba Satnam Singh Ji and Baba Surinder Singh Ji and assured that services of the hospital will be like a world class ultra modern multi-utility and the charges will on a par with government run hospitals.

I think we have a representative in the government (S. Sirsa) so we have no problem in getting our most genuine demands fulfilled, Said S. Kalka, adding that he has requested for getting the benefit of Aayushman Bharat scheme for the hospital, so that more people can get treatment at the hospital. DSGMC general Secretary S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon and other members and office bearers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister of Food and Supplies, Industry, Forest and Environment, Government of Delhi, said that his emotions are attached to this hospital, as a service to the humanity.

“After formation of the government of which I am a part all permissions were granted to the hospital and its opening was made possible, ” said the cabinet minister suggesting that the Sikhs should take benefit from the government and not oppose it for the sake of it. DSGMC has been allotted Rs. 100 crore to start skill development programs. We can get much more, he added.

He lauded the role of former DSGMC President Avtar Singh Hit for getting the land allotted for the hospital. He asked Sikhs in the national capital to join hands for common good of the community and even called upon his political bête-noirs (opponents) to join hands for betterment of the community and can oppose each other at the time of contesting elections.

According to S. Sirsa Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta who had played vital role in opening of the hospital which was shut since 2006. “The hospital could be opened after a long gap of 19 years, with the support of the government, ” he informed. Further according to him, the chief minister was to attend dedication ceremony but the sad incident of plane crash in Ahmedabad yesterday, PM Shri Narendra Modi is taking meeting with the state level functionaries, ” said Sirsa.

Sirsa suggested for opening Law College in Delhi as according to him, the youth from the Sikh community need to study law. He lauded the efforts made by Smt. Ranjit Kaur for opening a Ramgarhia Bank and once it is opened people will praise her efforts.
