Congress MP Preneet Kaur wife of Capt Amarinder Singh joins BJP

NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader, a former Minister of State for External Affairs and four times MP from Patiala, Ms Preneet Kaur joined the BJP here today. She is wife of former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh who had also joined BJP last year.

She was inducted into the BJP in presence of senior leaders including former Gujarat Chief Minister and in charge of Punjab Vijay Rupani, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, Vinod Tawde, Tarun Chugh and others.

Welcoming her into the party Mr Tawde said, given her seniority, experience and long years in parliament and public life, Ms Kaur’s joining the BJP will strengthen the party in Punjab.

Expressing her gratitude to the party leaders, Ms Kaur said she was thankful to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president JP Nadda and the entire leadership for giving her the chance to serve the people of Punjab.

She said, everybody across the country felt proud about the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi. She observed that the stature of the country had risen high globally under his leadership and every Indian felt proud about it.

Besides, she added, the Prime Minister’s vision of a “viksit Bharat” (developed India) has touched the lives of common people. She said she felt proud to be part of the party for which the country’s and its people’s welfare and progress remains the top most priority.

Later Ms Kaur met with the BJP President JP Nadda at his residence here.

She was also joined by her daughter and BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur and former Punjab's Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati.
