CGC Jhanjeri Hosted “Tree Plantation Campaign” Highlighting Importance of Green and Clean Air for Our Environment

MOHALI: Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, organized a “Tree Plantation Drive” . 3 (PB) Air Wing SQN National Cadet Corp students participated in the drive with the objective to make the campus greener and healthier. GP Capt Rajesh Sharma, Commanding Officer, 3 Punjab Air Squadron NCC Patiala, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. All the NCC cadets adopted the trees planted and took oath to water it and nurture it till they fully grown.

Cadets were motivated to take such initiatives in future also & motivated them to pursue noble causes for the development of the society as NCC cadets and aim high to join the Indian forces as their careers.

Capt Rajesh Sharma, Commanding Officer inaugurated the venture by planting a tree and said that we should be concerned to save our environment. He further added that it is high time to save the earth otherwise coming generation will have to face dire consequences. According to him the main aim of organizing this drive was to make the students aware about the hazards of pollution and the need for planting more trees so as to save our Earth. He further also promoted the usage of paper bags and make city plastic free.

Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said at the moment that most respiratory problems are due to lack of urban green cover. It is a fact that trees protect humans from harsh weather, provide shelter and act as filters for us to breathe easy. This is exactly why we are trying to create awareness among residents and our students as well .Awareness through action is the best way to set an example for our younger generation.
