Candle March against Hathras gang rape

ASHOK KAURA | October 06, 2020 04:16 PM

NAKODAR:The Istari Jagriti Manch, a women's organization, organised a candle march against the Hathras gang rape and Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh. Women raised the slogans against the Modi government and Yogi Government for having failed to provide safety to women.
The women stated that there has been a sharp increase in rape cases across India, especially in Uttar Pradesh. The police and Yogi Administration clearly rejected any possibility of rape against the Dalit girl Manisha, even when she clearly told the names of the four accused in a statement. The Yogi government is defending the four accused. The people, who are demanding justice for rape victim, are being defamed by the Yogi government.
Istari Jagriti Manch demanded the fast track hearing of the case and all the accused must be severely punished. The media should be allowed to meet the victim's family members. Strict actions must be taken for the safety of the women across India.
Bibi Kulwant Kaur, leader of Istari Jagriti Manch, Paramjit Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur, Harpreet Kaur and several other women were present at the gathering.

Shahkot Valmik Samaj members also organised a demonstration in this connection and submitted a memorandum to sub divisional magistrate.
