An unprecedented fortification at Haryana borders to stop farmers from Punjab

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has made unprecedented fortification of its borders to stop farmers from Punjab to reach Delhi for their protest against the BJP led center government to get their demands accepted.

The Shambu border, Khanuari border and Sirsa border have been blocked with heavy concrete slabs, big nails are inserted in the roads and barbed wire is laid on the roads. More than 14 companies of rapid action force and four companies of BSF have been deployed on the Haryana borders and similar arrangemnts are made at Delhi borders mainly the Singu border and Tikri border.

The farmers of Punjab, Haryana and other states have decided to march to Delhi for a dharna after ther talks with the center government failed late last night. The leaders of Samyukt Kisan Morcha have alleged that Haryana police had arrested many farmers and threatening others to scare them.Swaran Singh Pandher a BKU leader from Punjab said that farmers had been detained in Madhya Pradesh and other states too. He said that they were determined to go to Delhi. He said that Haryana border look like Kashmir border with Pakistan.

The farmers in large number have started reaching Shambu border whch is the main point of entry into Haryana. The Haryana government had also blocked the raods in 2019 when first phase of the agitation took place. The farmers had broken the hurdels and reached Delhi. This time extra ordinary arrangements have been made and heavy police force is deployed. The Haryana police is also using drones to throw tear gas shells. A rehersal was done yesterday.

The farmers are demanding gurantee of MSP for ther crops and implementation of swaminathan report on crop pricing. The farmers are also angry for not withdrawing police cases registered against them during previous protest. An annuncement in this regard was made by the center government. An assurance on MSP was also given in writing before farmers announced to end the agitation.
