AMRITSAR: In connection with the desecration incident at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Koulpur village of district Samba, Jammu & Kashmir — where five sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were desecrated after being set on fire — the Officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has constituted a three-member committee.

This committee includes, Surjit Singh Tugalwala, executive member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Bhai Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu, member of the Dharam Prachar Committee, and Bhai Harbhinder Singh, in-charge of the SGPC’s Jammu & Kashmir Sikh Mission.

Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj said the committee has been tasked with ensuring proper and transparent management at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Koulpur. It will also establish a new management committee consisting of Amritdhari Sikhs (initiated Sikhs) from the village and subsequently arrange for the re-installation (Prakash) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as per the sentiments of the local community.

He further stated that the committee would complete its work at the earliest and submit its detailed report to the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Jathedar Gargajj made a special appeal to media persons, Sikh groups and individuals to remain sensitive to the feelings of the Sikh community and residents of Koulpur village, who are deeply anguished by this desecration incident. He urged everyone to ensure that no distress or inconvenience is caused to them.
