AMRITSAR: The acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, an accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi, by the court in the Janakpuri and Vikaspuri massacre cases is a grave injustice to the victim families who have been waiting for justice for almost 41 years. This was expressed by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami in a statement issued from his office. Advocate Dhami said that this decision of the court has caused deep psychological trauma to the victim families, who have been fighting for justice for a long time.
The SGPC President said that the Sikh massacre of November 1984 is recorded in history as a brutal act, when Sikhs were brutally targeted at the behest of the government.
He said that Sikh organizations and the victim families have been fighting for justice for almost 41 years. After fighting such a long battle, this decision of the court is going to cause great pain to the victims as well as the entire nation.
He said that Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is clearly guilty of the Delhi Sikh massacre and he is already serving a sentence in one case.
Advocate Dhami said that the escape of Sikh massacre accused Sajjan Kumar from punishment in these cases is sad and disappointing.
