AAP enters Modi's stronghold in Gujarat, wins 27 seats in MC polls

CHANDIGARH: Gaining momentum and receiving an overwhelming response from the people in various states, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now entered the stronghold of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat. The AAP had won 27 seats in the local bodies' polls held in Gujarat on Tuesday. In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party said that Gujarat used to be a state where the BJP held the bastion and no other party stood any chance to contest with the BJP and its leaders. However, the AAP has changed that and has made its inroads in Gujarat. "By winning 27 seats, the AAP now stands second in Surat Municipal Corporation, " it added.

The statement further reads that the AAP had been getting a great response from the people in its public meetings, which were being conducted in Surat and other local bodies during the polls. The AAP said that in these public meetings, the people clearly stated, how they aspired for a change and a different way of politics to be done in the state. "They have shown their mandate today. The people are seeing the AAP as the only alternative and ray of hope that can bring about real change, " said the statement. It further said that with the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party in Modi's stronghold, the Congress had been decimated in Gujarat as it did not win any seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation.

"The people of Gujarat also see the AAP as a credible alternative to the conventional parties in Gujarat. The AAP will see great gains in Gujarat in the upcoming elections, " it said. The AAP thanked and congratulated the people of Gujarat for start of a new politics. “The people of Gujarat voted for the politics of work. The people of Gujarat were plagued by the politics of BJP and Congress, they wanted an alternative and they have got this option as the Aam Aadmi Party, ” the statement said. It further said that now the main contest in the upcoming assembly elections will be only between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.

The AAP further said that the politics of settlement and deal in Gujarat has come to an end and now the issues of the general public will be raised from streets to the Parliament. The statement further said that the status of the Congress party was going down and summing up from all over the country and till the time, the Congress do not get wiped out, the BJP governments will continue to be formed, because Congress is BJP's oxygen.

The statement further said that the recent trend of the AAP, growing its footing was being seen in different states of the country. In Punjab, the AAP won 60 seats in the local bodies' elections held recently and increased its vote share in the urban areas of Punjab. "AAP will see great results in the states which are going to the polls next year. The mandate of the people would be favourable for AAP, " it added. The statement said that the AAP would create a stronger organisation and would live up to the expectations of the masses.
