Backed by SAD, BKU-Lakhowal to block rail and road traffic on September 30 against center govt

FARIDKOT: Bhartiya Kisan Union led by Ajmer Singh Lakhowal having the backing of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) has announced to launch protest against BJP led NDA Government at center due to its "anti-people" policies, BKU has decided to block all rail and road routes towards Delhi on September 30.Lakhowal group of BKU enjoys tactical support of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Lakhowal who was appointed Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board by Parkash Singh Badal has blamed the Modi Government for anti-farmer policies. While addressing a farmer's convention ere he said, "All rail and road routes towrads Delhi would be blocked on September 30 to shake the conscience of NDA government at center". He said that Peaceful blockade would be held at Ludhiana, Phagwara, Mohali and Sangrur districts. He threatened to intensify the agitation if center failed to meet farmer's demands before September 30.

Lakhowal said that it was unfortunate that the center government led by Narender Modi is following the policies of former UPA government led by Congress party. He said that UPA and NDA governments had promsied to implement Swaminathan report on MSP of crops. Both the government have failed to provide renumerative prices to farmers for their crops, he added.

Lakhowal also demanded setting up of laboratories at every district headquarters for testing pesticides.
