Patiala Heritage Walk held in collaboration with District Administration, Patiala

PATIALA: As part of celebrations of Patiala Heritage Festival 2024, Patiala Foundation under its iHERITAGE project in collaboration with District Administration, Patiala conducted a Heritage walk at Baradari Gardens today at Patiala. The walk was attended by more than 500 people from all walks of life.

This Heritage Walk showcased variety of exotic trees, shrubs, the fern house and many more relevant things about the Baradari Garden. Ms Navreet Kaur, ADC (U) flagged off the walk. She was the Chief guest at the event which was succeeded by the Heritage Food Festival. The walk was led by Mr Ravee Singh Ahluwalia who led the participants through the trail within the Garden narrating the history and relevance of tree and monuments. He emphasized the need of protecting the biodiverse treasure housed in the Baradari Gardens. The Food fiesta had over twelve stalls of vegetarian and non vegetarian food exhibiting the traditional taste of Patiala City. The Heritage Food Festival gathered the generational culinary experts of the city under one roof. The handicrafts prepared by the Self Help Groups of the city were also displayed for attendees to buy.

The Chief Guest for the event was Ms Navreet Kaur, ADC (U). The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the Officers of District Administration of Patiala and Patiala Foundation for the constructive efforts towards smooth conduct of Heritage Walk and Food Festival. She presented encouraged the citizens to come forward and interact with nature more. She awarded the certificates to the participants and also inaugurated the Heritage Food Festival. The Baradari Gardens was covered under the heritage walk for the first time in October 2023 by Patiala Foundation under its project, iHERITAGE. The organisation had highlighted many relevant and important facts about the plantations found in the Garden in the walk. The Heritage Walk witnessed an encouraged response from the students of Meritorious School, Patiala and the the young adults of Thapar University, Punjabi University and Physical College of Education who participated enthusiastically in the walk. The Walk outlined not only the history, medicinal value and relevance of the trees there but also of the fact the and preservation of our Heritage is our own responsibility.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Sh Shawkat Ahmad Parrey, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala and was attended by Sh. Naman Markan, PCS, Mr. Tarsem Chand, SDM Nabha, Sh Sukhdev Singh, DSP (HQ), Ms Ravinder Kaur, DFSC, Patiala, Mr Rakesh Garg, Mr Shivraj Singh, SHO, Sh. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO, Patiala Foundation , Sh RK Sharma, Chairman Patiala Foundation, Sh HS Ahluwalia, Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Sh SP Chand, Sh Pawan Goyal, Sh Anmoljit Singh, Dr. Abhinandan Bassi assisted by the Patiala Foundation volunteers- Bharpur Singh, Satnam Singh, Mohit Gupta, Aditya, Ravaldeep Singh, Shubhangini Sharma, Parul Garg, Sara, Eakisha Ahluwalia , Nimer, Sanyam, Garima, Charanjot, Harsh, Gunjot, Nidash, Ritwik, Hritik and Gurmandar as Volunteers.
