PHAGWARA: Indian Medical Association Punjab Unit have threatened to boycott "Farishtey" or any future scheme if dues of Ayushman scheme worth more than Rs 250 Crores could not be cleared to around 500 private hospitals of the state in one week.

This was warned by IMA Punjab President Dr Paramjit Singh Maan and Former President Dr SPS Sooch while talking to this correspondent here today. They alleged that now state govt has backstabbed doctors by not
clearing dues of Rs.250 Crores of more than 500 hospitals and now the statement of Finance Minister saying Govt. is releasing claim amounts of PGI & Government hospitals only and not of private hospitals have reflected their intent of Step Motherly treatment with private hospitals.

Both Dr Maan and Dr Sooch alleged that nothing could be initiated by the government despite repeated assurances given by Health Minister during 26 meetings with IMA.

They said that now IMA is feeling badly fed up with false assurances from the government and is considering intensifying the stir.

They said that IMA Punjab private nursing home chapter had a meeting under Ayushman core Committee and decided to boycott "farishtay" or any other scheme to be launched by Punjab Government, The members of
Core Committee in unison said that private hospitals and doctors had fully cooperated with govt during Covid-19 pandemic.

They warned that If Govt. could not pay the claims of private hospitals , none of private hospitals will participate in any Government Scheme and Government health program as they have already lost faith in it . Non participation of private hospitals will lead to defeat of core motive of the PMJAY(Pardhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana) scheme to provide quality health services to the poorest of the society through private hospitals, they said.

Meanwhile Indian Medical Association Punjab Unit have alleged that the statements of the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Maan and several AAP leaders as well as the mysterious silence of the legislators belonging
to medical fraternity has further been adding salt to the wounds ofhumiliation to an eminent personality like Dr Raj Bahadur VC Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.

While lamenting the shabby treatment meted to Dr.Raj Bahadur, VC of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences by the Health Minister Chetan Singh Jauramazra, IMA Punjab President Dr.Paramjit Maan,
Former Presidents Dr SPS Sooch and Dr.Navjot Dahiya said that the mental agony and trauma under which the internationally renowned spinal surgeon was going on, could not be explained in words.

They said the members of the IMA, Punjab met Dr.Raj Bahadur recently at his residence in Chandigarh to express solidarity with him and found him in a state of shock.

They said, the demoralizing effect on the medical fraternity could easily be gauged from the series of resignations by the eminent medico personalities following the resignation by the VC, Dr.Raj Bahadur
after facing the humiliation publicly at the hands of the Health Minister.

IMA president Dr Maan and Dr Sooch while adding that such a situation was virtually a bad omen, which could play havoc to intellectual efficiency of the medical fraternity in particular and delivery of healthcare facilities to the public in general.Dr.Rajesh Vig, Dr.Sunil Katyal, Dr.Rajinder Sharma were also present on the occasion.
