Covid victims from Delhi will be treated without any discrimination: Punjab Health Minister

BHOLATH (Kapurthala): Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Punjab Government would provide treatment to covid patients coming from Delhi and any othet part of the country without any delay or discrimination.

Inaugurating the dialysis unit at Civil Hospital here at Bholath, the Minister said that the Punjab government was committed to provide treatment to every victim from Delhi by following the Path of " sarbat da bhala" shown by our great Guru sahiban.

He said that the false propaganda of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about the world class health services and infrastructure has come to light.

Talking about the Covid vaccination drive , he said that Punjab government was organizing vaccination at all the primary health centers and health wellness centers as well as special camps in the rural areas to facilitate the people at their doorsteps.

He said that more than 30 lakh people have been vaccinated in Punjab , for which 25.48 lakh doses of covishield and 2.64 lakh doses of covaxin have been used.

He appealed to the union government to regularize the supply of vaccines in the state as the trained staff and infrastructure provided by the Punjab government could vaccinate 3 lakh people daily, requiring 15 lakh doses every week.

He said that the health department had written a letter to the Union Ministry of Health on April 22 demanding 10 lakh doses of vaccine.

Regarding the preparations for vaccination for people above 18 years of age from May 1, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had asked the department to order 30 lakh covshield vaccine doses.

Replying to a query regarding the shortage of oxygen, he said that the plants of the Punjab government were running at full capacity while the central government had reduced the liquid oxygen quota of Punjab.

Encouraging the people to avail maximum benefits under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, the Health Minister announced that the scheme would be further expanded by the Punjab Government after August 2021.

He said that Punjab government has created more than 49 lakh 26 thousand e-cards for J-Farm holder farmers, construction workers, small traders and Blue Card holders so that every needy person could get treatment.

He said that till March 21 more than 10, 000 people were undergone bypass surgery and more than 5500 people have undergone joint replacement treatment.

Talking about the new recruitments to further strengthen the health services, the Minister said that the recruitment process for 3000 posts for various cadres was in progress. In addition, the recruitment process for 800 doctors is ongoing, of which 500 have joined the job after walk-in interviews. Immediately, 400 staff nurses and 140 technicians for laboratories are being recruited on a war footing to combat covid.

Earlier, Sidhu inaugurated a dialysis unit set up by Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh Seva Society at Civil Hospital Bholath at a cost of about Rs. 85 lakh. He lauded the contribution made by the society and said that the need of the hour was to provide quality health care to the people. He also interacted with the patients who came for dialysis at the Hospital.
On this occasion MLA . Navtej Singh Cheema, MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur IPS , Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kaur, Congress leader Amandeep Singh Gora Gill, Ranjit Singh Rana, SMO. Dr. Bholath Shalindar Singh and others were present.
