440 Haryana police SUVs to help covid patients across state

CHANDIGARH: In an attempt to help Covid patients in finding transport services easily,
Haryana Police has come forward and temporarily provided 440 Covid-19 Hospital Transport
Service (COV-HOTS) vehicles for free transportation of needy infected patients from their
home to hospitals/nursing homes and vice-versa.
Giving this information here on Thursday, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana,
Mr Manoj Yadava said that each police district would get 20 Toyota Innova SUVs for this
purpose. These vehicles were being provided after the instances of either shortage of
ambulances or overcharging by private ambulance service providers came to note. These
police vehicles would provide free services to patients and relief to the infected persons.
Out of the total, 126 COV-HOTS vehicles have already been provided to all the districts
across the State. Out of these, 26 SUVs given to Hisar Range while 20 each to Gurugram
Police Commissionerate and Rohtak Range, 10 each to Faridabad and Panchkula
Commissionerate, 12 each to Ambala and Karnal Range and 16 vehicles to South Range
Rewari. 70 SUVs would reach in districts today and the remaining 244 would be delivered by
Sunday evening, he added.
Amid rising cases of coronavirus, the DGP said that these vehicles were provided
exclusively for the purpose of providing transportation service of Covid patients. The persons
in need can dial 108 or the police control room number of the district to which they belong
for free transportation from their homes to hospitals or vice-versa.
To ensure that the police personnel driving these vehicles are not exposed to any
infection, they would wear masks, gloves and PPE kits while being on duty. The State police
force is working shoulder-to-shoulder with the medical fraternity to help Covid patients in
fighting against the deadly wave of coronavirus pandemic. Our district units extending full
cooperation to civil administration in arranging resources, while maintaining law and order
and continuing its routine duties, he added.
