MUMBAI: Actor Vijay Varma, who is known for his work in ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Darlings’ and others, has got a prized possession straight from the deepest archives of Bollywood.

On Thursday, the actor took to his Instagram, and shared pictures of himself from his home. His recent purchase? An art imitation of the iconic painting crafted by Majnu bhai from ‘Welcome’. The hilariously absurd painting is of a donkey standing on top of a horse, painted with complete seriousness by Majnu bhai (essayed by Anil Kapoor) as if it’s a masterpiece.

The actor wrote in the caption, “Yes I’m an Art Connoisseur. Sharing my moment with the most iconic painting from Bollywood.. no painting has ever brought this much joy to us @aneesbazmee sir @anilskapoor sir respect. Majnu Bhai supremacy”.

The painting makes an appearance in the film during an auction scene, which changes the course of the film. The humor comes from the contrast that a dreaded gangster acts like a sensitive, misunderstood artiste, yet produces a completely nonsensical painting.

The painting became a meme and pop culture symbol in India, often used to represent “abstract art no one understands.

A few weeks ago, Vijay Varma spoke about embracing a fresh chapter in his life. Months after his reported breakup with Tamannaah Bhatia, he took to social media to announce "new beginnings" on the professional front.

The actor had earlier taken to his Instagram stories and shared a flower bouquet alongside a handwritten note from filmmaker Hansal Mehta.
