MUMBAI: Renowned Kannada film actor Sudeep Kichcha performed the Pind Daan ritual in Gaya on Monday for his late mother. His mother had passed away a year ago, and the actor had been wishing to fulfil this sacred duty ever since, something he was finally able to complete now.
After performing the rituals, Sudeep visited the Vishnupad Temple and offered prayers. He said, “When I saw the holy feet of Lord Vishnu, I felt an incredible sense of inner peace. I had heard that performing Pind Daan in Gaya helps the departed soul attain salvation, and that’s why I came here.” He was accompanied by his wife and nephew during the rituals.
The entire ceremony was conducted with proper Vedic rituals by the descendant priests of Rai Bahadur Gopal Lal Barik. The Pind Daan rituals lasted for around three hours. Acharya Vinod, who performed the ceremony, mentioned that the actor was quite emotional and even performed a special offering (Tarpan) in his mother’s name.
