Micro planning essential to increase voting turnout - Nikas Kumar

AMRITSAR: SVEEP core committee Chairperson and ADC (Urban Development) Nikas Kumar has stated that to ensure the participation of the common people in the elections, the district administration will leave no stone unturned in the election arrangements.

Addressing in a review meeting of SVEEP teams he said, “ The Election Commission of India (ECI) set a target of 70 percent voting in elections. The target can be achieved only if micro-planning is done and executed by booth level officers at every booth.” He instructed all assistant returning officers to ensure booth level SVEEP activities in allotted assembly segment.

Mr. Kumar further said, “We still have enough time to reach out as many voters as possible and motivate them to vote. The Election Commission of India and CEO, Punjab are providing many facilities to encourage the first time , PwD and senior citizens.Vote is the democratic right of every citizen of the country and its proper use can provide more strength to the democratic structure of the country.”

While giving information, he said, “The CEO, Punjab is very fond of the unique SVEEP activities being conducted by Amritsar district in recent past. Amritsar district bagged top position for the second time in the SVEEP activities, which is a matter of pride for all.”

He congratulated the all SVEEP teams for this success.

Discussing about importance of social media Mr. Kumar said, “In the present age of information technology, social media emerges as a biggest source of information and its grass root level reach make it more important for us.” He urged the voters to share social media handles of District Election Office, Amritsar as much as possible. He said appealed the voters to exercise their right to vote on June 1. In this meeting, the District Development and Panchayat Officer Rajesh Malhotra, Nodal Officer SVEEP-cum-District Education Officer (SE) Rajesh Kumar, DSSO Meena Devi, Deputy DEO Smt. Indu Mangotra, District SVEEP team members Munish Kumar, Ashu Dhawan and Pankaj Kumar were also present.
