Former Ambassador to US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu likely to be BJP candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, SAD may support

AMRITSAR: Former diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu is ilikely  to be BJP candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. The SAD (Badal) and other Sikh organisations may support him unconditionally, the sources said.

Sandhu, who was the Indian Ambassador to America is grand son of legendary Sikh leader Teja Singh Samundari and son of late Bishan Singh Samundari, former Vice Chacellor of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.

While interacting with the dignitaries of the holy city at his home, Sandhu said that he wants to serve Guru Nagari Amritsar like his family. Seeking everyone's support for the development of the city, he said that he has a specific vision and plans for the development of Guru Nagari.

He said that we will provide employment to the youth of Punjab and Amritsar to work and earn money by staying in Amritsar instead of going abroad.

Sandhu added that he was very impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's way of working and will get maximum opportunities from him for the interests of Guru Nagari.

Sandhu said that since Modi became the Prime Minister, he had the opportunity to work for ten years during which the India-US relationship turned into a partnership. Now India has progressed a lot.

Sandhu stated that his grandfather Sardar Teja Singh Samundari thought it right to leave the army and return to serve the panth. "My parents also came to Amritsar after receiving higher education from America and served the city. He said that my feeling is also to serve Amritsar, he said.

Prof. Sarchand Singh who was present during the interaction said that on this occasion Daljit Singh Kohli, brother of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP leader, Punjab BJP spokesperson Prof. Gurwinder Singh Manmanke, Leaders of Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rajinder Singh Marwaha, Sukhwinder Singh Sheikhabhti, Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, Sukhwinder Singh Kohli, Alambir Singh Sandhu, Dharamvir Sarin, Ram Sharan Prashar, Arun Sharma, Baljinder Singh Nepal, Rajan Kapoor, Harpal Singh Ahluwalia Chamber of Commerce Majha Zone jointly said that they All will support Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu in every possible way for the development of the city.

He said that the religious history of Sardar Sandhu's grandfather Teja Singh Samundari is very long, while his father was the first vice chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University and his mother also played an important role in the field of education.
The leaders said that Sardar Sandhu, the son of the soil of this city, leaves a developed country like America to serve in Amritsar, so it is fortunate for us.

Prof.Sarchand Singh said that Sardar Sandhu's recognition of the turban in a country like America is a matter of pride for every Sikh, to which the US President Joe Biden has also been praising Sardar Sandhu. He said that Sardar Sandhu has a clean and honest personality and can use his influence for the benefit of the city and the people. Taranjit Singh Sandhu was honored on this occasion.
