BSP terminates alliance with SAD in Punjab, to go alone in Lok Sabha elections

CHANDIGARH: Giving a major jolt to Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD), the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) has decided to terminate its political alliance with SAD in Punjab.

The BSP has taken this decision after a marathon meeting of state executive committee meeting presided over by BSP national general secretary and incharge of Punjab Randhir Singh Benipal. He said that SAD was trying to forge an alliance with BJP and BSP cant be part of this alliance. He said that BJP was anti-poor and anti-dalit and trying to change the constitution of India. "BSP can't be an alley of SAD and BJP alliance.

SAD and BSP had contested the 2022 assembly elections together after SAD broke its alliance with BJP due to farmer's protest. The SAD is again in touch with BJP for an alliance in Punjab. Union Home minister Amit Shah had a few days back stated that they were in touch with SAD for an alliance. Sukhbir Badal president of SAD has denied that he was talking to BJP on this issue.
