CHANDIGARH: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Dr. S. Karuna Raju, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab with all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of the State of Punjab through Google Meet to review the progress of ongoing Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Rolls w.r.t. as 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.
Reiterating the schedule of the campaign, Dr. Raju emphasized that it is essential to keep communication strong and keep everyone aligned with the overall larger goal i.e. ensuring universal enrolment of all the eligible citizens, besides ensuring 100% improvement of the health of the Electoral Roll.
Applauding the services rendered by all the DCs as a team, Dr. Raju highlighted the fact that the Office of CEO, Punjab has achieved 99% perfection in the health of Electoral Roll and showed confidence that very soon Punjab shall have the distinction of achieving 100% correction in the Electoral Roll. Dr. Raju further mentioned that it shall only be possible due to sincere and dedicated efforts of the field officers of CEO, Punjab under the supervision and guidance of all the DCs.
Dr. Raju drew the attention towards the special camps that shall be organized at booth level across the State of Punjab on 21st, 22nd November and 5th, 6th December, 2020. He urged the DCs to ensure compliance as per the guidelines of ECI and focus on especially young voters, NRI Voters, Transgender and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). He urged them to ensure that citizens of Punjab make the most of these four days special camps.
Mrs. Madhavi Kataria apprised all the DCs about various online activities happening under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and urged them to play a collaborative role in further strengthening the programme.
