AMRITSAR: Mr Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee , lauded the passage of a resolution condemning the 1984 genocide against Sikhs in several cities of the country, including Delhi, by the US Senate, declaring it a Sikh genocide.

Mr Dhami said similar resolutions had been passed by the California State House in 2015 and by the state of Pennsylvania in 2018.

He said that at the instigation of the then Congress government thousands of innocent Sikhs were massacred in November 1984 in different parts of the country including Delhi.

He said that it was inhumane thinking of Congress party which could not be accepted by the society.

He said that while the foreign governments were condemning this heinous act against the Sikhs, the Congress party was sprinkling salt on the wounds of the Sikhs by rewarding the perpetrators of these incidents with high positions.

SGPC Chief thanked the senators from the US state of New Jersey and lauded the role played by Sikh personalities in bringing this work to fruition.
