NAPA urge Govt. to address issues and Concerns of Punjabi Diaspora

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | March 07, 2021 10:54 AM

JALANDHAR: There are so many pending issues and concerns of Punjabi Diaspora which needs to be addressed by the Punjab Government. This was disclosed here by Satnam Singh Chahal Executive Director North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) in a press release issued here today. This is very unfortunate that till today there is no NRI Act in Punjab passed by Punjab Assembly and a NRI Commission in Punjab is a teeth less body which has no Judicial powers to decide the case at its own.

Chahal Said that North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) is struggling to stop illegal human smuggling from Punjab but beside two laws passed in Punjab Assembly during year 2010 and 2012 this illegal buissness of illegal human smuggling is flouring day by day in Punjab under the nose of Administration. We wrote several letters to present and past Punjab Government to take a serious note of to stop this buissness of illegal human smuggling from Punjab but our Governments are not paying any attention to our requests and a result several Punjabi Youths are missing while crossing the US-Mexico Border.

There was a purposel drafted by the Previous Government that no Case will be registered against any visiting NRI without the permission of District Police Chief but this Proposal could not be seen as effective in Punjab. Punjab Government is not serious to attract Punjabi Diaspora to invest money in Punjab. Although Punjab Government formed a Committee for this purpose which include Kirpal Shankar Saroj, Additional Chief Secretary, NRI Affairs, Rajat Agarwal, CEO, Invest Punjab, PS Kharbanda, Special Secretary, NRI Affairs, the members include the Additional CEO of Invest Punjab; Deepinder Singh Dhillon, Joint Director (IT) of Invest Punjab and Manjit Singh Nijhar. Fate of the Report card of this Committee is not known as yet added Chahal
Chahal questioned the Punjab Government that if there is no legal authority with the NRI Sabha and its office-bearers then what is the fun to waste hard earned money of Punjabi Diaspora.
