PHAGWARA: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-drug campaign, Bholath police arrested a woman with one kilogram of opium near the village of Bagrian.

Addressing a press conference, DSP Bholath Karnail Singh stated that the arrest was made following proactive patrolling by SHO Ranjit Singh and his team from Bholath police station. As the police party approached the vicinity of Bagrian village, they noticed a woman holding a plastic bag who appeared visibly nervous upon seeing the officers and began walking away hurriedly.

Acting on suspicion, the police apprehended the woman with the help of a lady constable. Upon questioning, she identified herself as Amarjit Kaur, wife of Harjit Singh, resident of Kamarawan village, under Bholath police jurisdiction. A search of the plastic bag she was carrying led to the recovery of one kilogram of opium concealed in a plastic container.
A case has been registered, and further legal proceedings have been initiated. DSP Karnail Singh confirmed that the accused is currently in custody, and detailed interrogation is underway to trace the source of the opium and uncover the intended supply chain.

He emphasized that under the state’s anti-drug campaign, law enforcement is operating with full vigor. “No drug trafficker—regardless of their identity—will be spared, ” DSP Singh asserted.
