SHAHKOT:The Shahkot police have booked unidentified persons on the charges of illegal quarrying of sand.The investigating officer (IO) Sulindar Singh said that he along with a police party was on patrolling in area of Sandhawal village and received information of illegal quarrying of sand from Sutlej River near Ram Pur Sandhawal village .When raided one JCB machine a tractor and a loaded trolley from the spot and the accused managed to flee.
IO said that a case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and sections 379(theft) of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons and impounded a JCB machine, a tractor and a trolley loaded with illegal sand.
