Two gangsters involved in kidnapping of Ludhiana businessman short dead in police encounter

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Police today chased and shot dead two dreaded gangsters who were involed in the kidnapping and shooting of a businessman Sambhav Jain on November 17 last.

The businessman was kidnapped from outside his factory and shot in the leg before dumping him near Vishavkarma chowk. Police said seven gangsters were involved in the kidnapping caried out to get ransom from the business family.

In the recent past the incidents of demanding ransom from businessmen has increased manifold. In the present case also ransom was demanded from family of Sambhav Jain. The family approached the police for help. Police started investigation and traced the activity of kidnappers. After roaming for three hours the gangsters shot in the leg of Jain and threw him out of car before escaping from police net.

Kuldip Singh Chahal Commissioner of Police said that they had already arrested five of the seven gangsters and taken on remand. He said that two gangsters who were kingpin of the gang were absconding. They were identified as Sanjiv Kumar alias Sanju and Subham Gopi. Chahal said that Police was chasing the absconding gangsters. Today morning they were traced driving a Scooty near Tibba in the outskirts of city when police challenged them.

Chahal said that gangsters fired on the police party and got killed in the return fire. Their dead bodies were shifted to hospital after recording forensic evidnece on the encounter spot. An ASI of police who was injured in the firing is also admitted in civil hospital.

Chahal said that two automatic pistols were recovered from the dead gangsters. He said that about 15 fun shots exchanged during encounter.
