Phagwara police arrest two members of gang that looted cash from finance company

PHAGWARA: The Police have arrested two members of a gang who looted cash worth lakhs of rupees by targeting the office of a finance company at Dhyan Singh Colony here yesterday and recovered cash of Rs 1 lakh 15 thousand from them while the third gang member of the group is still out of police custody.

Speaking at a press conference here today, SP Harinder Singh Parmar and DSP Ashru Ram Sharma said that three unidentified persons on two motorcycles robbed an iron safe at Saton Credit Care Network Limited Private Bank in Satnampura on January 4. The police had registered a case against Sukhdev Singh under Section 392, 34 IPC, 25-54-59 Arms Act.

He said that after a thorough investigation by the police led by CIA staff in-charge Sikandar Singh Virk, the police cordoned off the area at Pandawan and arrested two youths who were riding on a motorcycle and interrogated them. 1 lakh 15 thousand was recovered from them. He said that the arrested persons have been identified as Pradeep Singh alias Pradeep son of Bhola Singh of Patti Nilowal Bilga district Jalandhar Rural and Ajaypal Singh son of Dalbir Singh of village Dinewal of Tarn Taran district while their third accomplice Shira alias Shiru who is still in police custody. He said that Pradeep and Ajaypal had admitted that they had come up with the whole scheme in collaboration with Shira. Pradeep Singh, who was formerly a recovery officer in Seton Credit Care Network at Jandiala Guru, has been transferred to District Hoshiarpur branch for about a month now. Ajaypal had taken a loan from Pradeep due to which they had a lot in common. Ajaypal Singh and Pradeep Singh made all the suggestions on the mobile phone to carry out the incident and also included Sheera alias Shuri who was a friend of Ajaypal Singh.

On the night of January 3, both Ajaypal Singh and Sheera reached Phagwara by bus. They took him to village Bilga and broke the safe and divided the money among themselves. They spent some money and the rest of the money is with Shira. He said that the police have recovered two motorcycles used in the incident, a broken safe, cash of Rs. 1 lakh 15 thousand and they are being interrogated.

CIA staff in-charge Sikandar Singh said that Pradeep, Ajaypal and Sheera were all financially weak from their homes and many were in debt. Due to which they thought it would be better to carry out this work to improve their economic status and they thought that this work would remove the debt on our head but they probably did not think that this work would turn out to be bad. Carrying out this event was mainly to improve the economy.
