Lohian businessman gets Rs.1 crore extortion threats, Shots Fired Outside Hospital

PHAGWARA: Lohian Police in Kapurthala district have registered a criminal case under Sections 386 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code following serious allegations of extortion, criminal intimidation, and gunfire targeting a local resident in the Lohian area. Extortion calls to influential families have become a routine in Punjab.

According to the complaint, Vishal Gupta, resident of Lohian, reported that he received multiple WhatsApp calls from different foreign numbers. The caller allegedly demanded ₹1 crore and issued repeated death threats if the demand was not met. The complainant stated that the threats caused significant fear for his personal safety and that of his family.
