PHAGWARA: The Kapurthala police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a series of two-wheeler thefts over the past few months and recovered three stolen motorcycles from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar son of Charan Das resident of Mohalla Prempura Sultanpur Lodhi.
SSP Kapurthala Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said in a press release that the police teams have been ordered to keep a close watch on the activities of anti-social elements and to find out pending unsolved crimes in the district.
The SSP said that under the Sultanpur Lodhi SHO, the police team is investigating the case registered in the case of theft of Hero Honda motorcycle number PB09Z814, on the complaint of kawarpal singh son of Raunak singh resident of village Doda Wazir Sultanpur Lodhi.
On dated 11.06.2021, the police party got secret information regarding from a reliable source about Vijay Kumar that he is involved in stealing motorcycles in Sultanpur area. The police party immediately nabbed the accused and confiscated the above said stolen motorcycle from his possession.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he had stolen two more motorcycles from Amandeep Hospital Talwandi Road Sultanpur Lodhi and hid these motorcycles in the forest area of Lai Wala Jhal village, Kapurthala Road. Police teams immediately searched the area and two more motorcycles were recovered from the spot identified by him.
Giving the details of the recovered motorcycles, the SSP said that the registration number of one motorcycle is PB09Z814, while the two motorcycles recovered are without number plates, with engine numbers HA10EHBHG05164 and HA10ELDHB40656.
The accused has been arrested under Section 379 of IPC in the case FIR No. 151 dated 08.06.2021 Police Station Sultanpur Lodhi,
The SSP said that the police team is investigating the facts of the arrested thief and after getting information from him, some more theft can be revealed.
