CHANDIGARH: Paramraj Singh Umrananagal, the controversial IG of Punjab Police has got relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The High Court has ordered the reinstatement of IG Umranangal. Quashing the suspension order dated February 29, 2019, the High Court has directed the Punjab government to allow IG Umranangal to join the services forthwith.
In a plea moved by IG Umranangal in High Court, he argued that the Rule 3(8)(a) of AIS (D&A) Rules, 1969 provides that an order of suspension made under this rule which has not been extended shall be valid for a period not exceeding sixty days and an order of suspension which has been extended shall remain valid for a further period not exceeding 120 days, at a time. unless revoked earlier.
Umranangal was suspended in 2019 in Behbal Kalan firing case.
