CHANDIGARH: Punjab and Haryana High Court today granted anticipatory bail to former minister and SAD leader Bikrm Singh Majithia in the drug case registered against him in Mohali Police station.

Majithia was booked under sections 25/27A/29 of the NDPC Act for his alleged involvement in drug scam. He had gone underground after registration of case to avoid arrest. Punjab Police had also issued look out notice against him. It is believed the Congress government led by Charanjit Singh Channi gave long rope to Majithia to secure bail from court.

Majithia's name had figured in Rs.6000 crore hawala racket of drug money and the STF led by Harpreet Sidhu IGP had also mentioned his name in the report on drugs submitted in the high court. Dug lord former copr Jagdish Bhola had also named Majithia as kingpin of drug trade in Punjab.

The High Court has asked Majithia to join police probe and directed police not to arrest him.
