PHAGWARA: The Nurmahal police have booked five members of a family, including three women on the charges of outraging the modesty of a woman.
Investigating officer (IO) Amrik Lal said that the accused have been identified as Jaspal Singh, a resident of Kot Badal Khan village his wife Sarabjit Kaur, and daughter Prabhjot Kaur Manjit Singh of the same village, and his wife Kamaljit Kaur.
Avtar Singh, a resident of the same village, complained to the police that his brother Jaspal Singh and his accomplices barged into his house on May 29 evening and used filthy language against her wife, Charanjit Kaur and slapped her, and assaulted his father, who saved themselves by locking themselves in a room. When he and his son reached home, the accused attacked them and ransacked their house. He said a land dispute is the reason behind the attack.
IO said that a case under section 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment) ) 324(mischief) 332(2) (house trespass to commit offence punishable with imprisonment)127(2) (wrongful confinement) 191(3) (rioting) and 190(unlawful assembly of the BNS has registered against the accused.
