NAKODAR:The Nakodar sadar police have arrested a villager on the charges of
firing and attempt to murder.
The investigating officer (IO) and Uggi police post in-charge said
that the accused has been identified as Vishal son of Mangat Ram a
resident of Chuharr village.
IO said that the accused and his accomplices opened fire at Sarabjit
Singh alias Sodhi Bath son of Pargann Singh a resident of Khiva
village on January 21 at Chuharr village who was seriously injured
and was rushed to Nakodar civil hospital from where he was referred to
a Jalandhar hospital.
IO said that Nakodar MLA G.S, Wadala who is SAD candidate from Nakodar
constituency for February 20 election has organised a public meeting
at Chuharr village and left the venue after addressing it around 3 PM
.
IO said that the accused started a fight with the victim and one of
the accused opened fire injuring him adding that money matter was the
reason behind the attack.
IO said that a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) 506(criminal
intimidation) 427(mischief) 148 and 149 (rioting) of the Indian Penal
Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against
the accused and his accomplice who are absconding, and raids are being
conducted to arrest them.
