Canada police issue arrest warrants of two Punjabi suspects for attack on 37 year old missing woman

TORONTO: The York Regional Police has obtained Canada wide arrest warrants of two Punjabi suspects who allegedly attacked a 37 year old woman Elnaz Hajtamiri who was later abducted and still missing.

Police said that two suspects were “directly involved in the planning and execution” of the parking garage attack on 37-year-old Elnaz Hajtamiri, weeks prior to her abduction.

The two suspects have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, 24, of Delta, B.C. and 23-year-old Sukhpreet Singh, of Mississauga. They have been charged for aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Police had earlier arrested Riyasat Singh and Harshdeep Binner and charged for the attack on Elnaz Hajtamiri.

The incident happened on Dec. 21, 2021 at the undergrund parking garage of her Richmond Hill condo. The two men reportedly confronted Hajtamiri and struck her in the head with a frying pan.

The suspects, who also allegedly tried to abduct her, fled the scene in a vehicle. Hajtamiri was taken to hospital and required roughly 40 stiches to close the wound.

Riyasat Singh and Harshdeep Binner were both charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, mischief to property over $5, 000, and possession of stolen property over $5, 000.

Riyasat Singh pled guilty and was deported to Indian in December last while Binner remains in police custody and is set to appear in court later this month.

Two other accomplices of susepcts were arrested and charged few months back. They are Harshpreet Sekhon, of Mono, and Akash Rana, 25, of Delta, B.C. They have both been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense. Sekhon and Rana are currently in police custody and have a March 24 court date.

Mohammad Lilo, who is Hajtamiri's ex-boyfriend, has also been charged with attempted murder and attempted kidnapping in connection with the incident.

Police warned that anybody found helping the suspects would face criminal charges. Police has asked the suspects to surrender to police.

Few seeks after the attack, on Jan. 12, 2022 at about 8:30 p.m., Hajtamiri was kidnapped from a residence in Wasaga Beach. Police previously said she was forcibly dragged from a home barefoot by three suspects dressed in fake police gear. Hajtamiri was last seen being driven away in a 2016-2022 white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle.

Earlier this year, YRP and the Ontario Provincial Police, which is handling the abduction investigation, offered a $100, 000 reward for information about Hajtamiri's whereabouts. Police said that they believed there are still more people who knows about the kidnapping of Hajtamiri. Police said that they would catch the culprits and trying to give anser to family and friends of missing woman.
