CHANDIGARH: The family of a Canada based NRI youth Pardeep Singh, who was murdered by a group of hooligans at Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday has demanded immediate arrest of the accused. They have also refused to creame the dead body till the culprits are arrested.
The deceased came from a family of army personnel. His father Gurbaksh Singh is an honorary captain in the Indian Army and is due to retire in May this year while his uncle Gurdial Singh retired as a havaldar from the Indian Army recently.
Pardeep Singh (24) who was wearing attire of Nohang Singh had come to pay obeisance at Shri Anandpur Sahib on the eve of Hola Mohalla when he objected to some men who were using loud speakers in their jeeps to play songs. In the brawl that ensued, those miscreants stabbed Pardeep to death.
Pardeep Singh belonged to village Gajikot in district Gurdaspur. He got PR status ion Canada after seven years and returned home recently to visit his parents.
Police said one of the accused Niranjan Singh who is admitted in PGI has been arrested and police is deployed ourside the ward where he is admitted.
