PHAGWARA: In a shocking incident a 12-year-old girl gave birth to a male child in Civil Hospital Phagwara on Friday. As per official sources, a Bihari minor girl gave birth to male child and is presently undergoing treatment at Bibi Nanki Mother & Child Hospital Amritsar.
When contacted Child Specialist Dr Naresh Kundra said it was a premature delivery after 5.5 months pregnancy. He said the delivered child was of only 900 Gms weight and was in serious condition , so both mother and child were shifted to Amritsar.
After getting the reports SP Phagwara Gurpreet Singh appointed SHO Sadar Usha Rani as Investigating Officer who met the minor girl in the hospital. I.O. said the girl told the police that she was living with her father Baghpat(Bihari Migrant) in Tibbi Mohalla Phagwara last year. She went to ease her self in the open ground one day early morning where an unknown youth raped her. The Victim told that only two months before she alongwith her father shifted to Gobindpura Mohalla Phagwara and on May 26 she felt severe pain in her stomach and was brought to civil hospital Phagwara where she delivered a male child.
DSP Phagwara Jaspreet Singh said the police have registered a case under section 376 IPC and 6 Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act against unknown rapist.
