CHANDIGARH: Suspended AIG of Punjab Police Malwinder Singh Sidhu today in a fit of rage shot dead his son-in-law in the Chandigarh Judicial complex, sector 43. The deceased was IRS officer.
Sidhu had a family dispute with his son-in-law and they both had came in Lok Adalat to settle the case. The eyewitnesses said that there was some argument and manhandling between Sidhu and his son-in-law when Sidhu shot him from close range in the head. He fired total four rounds of bullets. He tried to escape after the murder but he was caught by police on the spot.
It was a big question how Sidhu managed to take inside Judicial complex a loaded revolver despite metal detectors at the entrance. Sidhu was arrested by Punjab Vigilance Department few months back in a case of corruption and extortion. He was on bail in that case.
