Supreme Court summons ballot papers of Chandigarh Mayoral election

CHANDIGARH: The Supreme Court today ordered to present ballot papers of Chandigarh Mayoral election before it tomorrow, now lying in the safe custody of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The Supreme Court gave a dressing to presiding officer Anil Masih and asked him if he had made ticks on the balot papers. Anil Masih accepted that he had marked ticks on the invalid balot papers. SC observed that he (Anil Masih) shall be prosecuted.

The Supreme Court was also informed abuout the horse trading by BJP and three councillors of AAP joining BJP a day before the hearing. Supreme Court said that they are seized of the issue. The SC asked the Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh to appoint a new presiding officer.

The BJP likely to win the election of Mayor if re-election is ordered. The Mayor Manoj Sonakar has resigned yesterday to pre-emt the SC move to remove him.

AAP councilors had challenged the election of Mayor of BJP by fraud. Anil Masih was accused of declaring seven votes of opposition invalid. Masih was caught on camera ticking on the voters to make them invalid.
