Stree Shakti Celebrated International Women’s Day in its True Sense.

CHANDIGARH: A prominent gathering of women activists convened in Chandigarh today to discuss the far-reaching implications of the Women’s Reservation Bill of 2023. Organised by Rekha Mody, founder of Stree Shakti – The Parallel Force, in collaboration with Farzana Mumtaz, Editor-in-Chief of News Kashmir, the event brought together a diverse group of voices from civil society, women’s study centers, political strategists, law enforcement, media, and Panchayat representatives.

Among the prominent attendees were Mr. Sunder, Kamal Sisodiya, Commandant, CRPF, Professor Emeritus and Gender Expert Pam Rajput, Vandana, Panchayat leader from Jammu, Ritu Lehel, Dean of Women Studies, Punjabi University and youth leaders from Jammu- Bubble and Gagan, working under National Rural Development Mission.

The Women’s Reservation Bill is a historic step towards gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Indian political landscape. By guaranteeing a minimum of 33% of seats for women in legislatures, the bill aims to increase their participation in decision-making and create a more inclusive democracy. This not only provides equal opportunities but recognizes the vital role women play in shaping national policy and governance.

Thought-provoking discussions on the bill’s impact on various sectors were discussed exploring the challenges and opportunities faced by women in political participation and potential effects on policymaking at all levels.

On this historic event Rekha Mody, founder of Stree Shakti – The Parallel Force said, “We are representing Stree Shakti, the collective power of women. Together, we can achieve anything. This event is a testament to the strength and resilience of women, and I am confident that it will inspire us all to reach our full potential, ” she further added, “We believe that women have the power to drive economic growth and create a more just and equitable society.”

The event concluded with a powerful sense of unity and undeterred commitment to gender equality. Participants pledged to collaborate in maximizing the potential of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Furthermore, Stree Shakti further announced plans for a mega conclave in Jammu & Kashmir, seeking support and participation from all attendees as they set sails for a transformative journey towards a brighter, more inclusive future led by women leaders.
