Punjab Governor extends Eid-Ul-Fitr greetings

CHANDIGARH:  The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit greeted the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Purohit said, “On the solemn occasion of the culmination of Holy month of Ramzan as Eid-ul-Fitr, I convey my warm greetings and good wishes to all the Muslim brethren in Punjab and Chandigarh. Ramzan is a period of devotion, fasting, charity and self-accountability”. It redirects the mind and the heart away from selfish material activities, focusing on actions of generosity and charity.

I hope that the festival evokes feelings of brotherhood, compassion and sharing in all and strengthens the pluralistic bonds of our composite society. On this Holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr, let us redeem our pledge to respect the dignity of all, the sanctity of life and the solemnity of all faiths, said the Governor.
