NSKFDC organises loan mela & awareness camp; Rs.1.87 Crore loan/saction letters distributed to 174 beneficiaries

CHANDIGARH:National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) has organised a loan mela and awareness camp at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Sector-26, Chandigarh for the schemes of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, virtually guided all the beneficiaries and identified groups in the program through Video Conference. During the program, loans/sanction letters amounting to Rs.1.87 crore were distributed to 174 beneficiaries under the schemes of corporations working under the Ministry.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the national corporations namely National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation were also present in this program. National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation also participated in this program. The senior officers of State Channelising Agencies in Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh also participated in the program.

A health checkup camp was also organized in which free medicines, spectacles distributed to the target group and demonstration of assistive devices meant for person with disabilities was also done by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is effectively implementing various schemes to make strong and self-reliant the deprived and neglected sections of the society. Its target groups are mainly Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Safai Karamcharis, Manual Scavengers, rag pickers and differently-abled people etc.

During the program, the schemes of the Ministry were publicized by the state corporations, Canara Bank and Punjab Gramin Bank. A large number of beneficiaries and their family members participated in the program.
