Techno Virsa off to a grand start at Rayat Bahra Varsity

MOHALI: It was a cultural bonanza at the Techno Virsa-2022, a three-day technical and cultural festival, which got off to a grand start at the Rayat Bahra University campus here today amidst great fanfare.

The enthusiasm of the participating students was to be seen to be believed as they took part in different cultural events with great enthusiasm. The skit, mimicry and one-act-play kept the audience spellbound.

However, the two events which drew thunderous applause were the gidha and bhangra. Young boys and girls dressed in their colorful best danced to the beat of drums in gay abandon and the audiences applauded them with full zeal.

Other cultural events on the inaugural day included light vocal and folk songs.

Balkar Singh Sidhu, Vice-Chairman of the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy, who was the Chief Guest, said such tech-fests broadened the knowledge base of the budding technocrats as it always takes time for the latest to enter the text books being studied by the students.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the university and Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, who presided over the inaugural session, addressing the students, said that the aim of the event was to inculcate ingenuity and innovative abilities among the students and encourage them to explore the world beyond textbooks.

Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, speaking on the occasion said the role of such tech-fests is enormous since these helped develop the overall personality of the students and the Rayat Bahra Group was committed to honing the technical skills of the students.

Rajiv Gupta, DPI (Colleges) Punjab were Guests of Honour. Ravinder singh SDM Kharar, Dr Rabinder Kaur, mother of Miss Universe Harnaaz, Dr Deepika Kansal Registrar, PGGCG, JS Brar and other prominent figures of RBU were also present.

Parallel to the cultural events there were technical sessions in progress at different venues on the campus. These sessions also saw massive participation by the students.

On the coming two days the highlights of the festival include Fashion Show, War of Bands, folk dances, Kavi sammelan, Mehndi, poster making, Best Out of Waste, Paint Your Face, Mud Robo Race, The Bug War, Logo Making, cartooning, and technical quiz.
