MOHALI: Holi, the festival of colours was celebrated with a splash of colours at the Rayat Bahra University campus here today. It was all fun and frolic as students from different schools of the university and faculty members participated in the celebrations.

A spirit of gay abandon marked the celebrations in the main lawns of the university campus where the students danced on blaring music played on the DJ. Enthused students also sprinkled colours on teachers. These bright colors are believed to signify energy, life and joy.

The university following the green and global practices had arranged for safe organic herbal colours to celebrate the vibrant festival of Holi.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, speaking on the occasion said Holi is the festival that commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the evil demon named Holika.

Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said the festival marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season. He said that Holi is a festival of new hope, new beginning and new opportunity.
