Research Team From Forest Research Institute Dehradun Visits Carmel Convent School

CHANDIGARH:After the tragic incident occurred on July 8 in the premises of Carmel
Convent School, Sector 9, Chandigarh whereby a tree fell causing one death of a students and
injuries to many students.  A one member inquiry committee headed by Justice (Retd.)
Jitendra Chauhan was constituted to ascertain the facts of the case and fix responsibilities
including remedial actions to be taken.
On Tuesday, a research team from Forest Research Institute Dehradun, visited Chandigarh
and interacted with Mr Justice Chauhan. Mr Justice visited the Carmel convent school with
the team and interacted with the management and teachers. Further, for the scientific
management of trees, the team has decided to study issues related to plant pathology,
entomology and will have ultrasonic study to find out the extent of hollowness in any
standing tree.
The general public is also requested to advance their valuable suggestions in this regard to
preservation of the trees so that this kind of incidents can be averted. The suggestions can be
