RBU pact with US pharma firm for placements

MOHALI: The Rayat Bahra University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Eminent Physicians, USA, under which the latter would give valuable inputs to the university in teaching, training methodology and suitably customize the curriculum so that the students fit into the industrial scenario of the pharma sector meaningfully.

According to the MoU, the US firm would absorb university’s final year students or pass out students of the University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences with competent salary offers and it will also provide an opportunity to train the students of the university on the emerging technologies in order to bridge the skill gap and make them industry ready.

At the MoU signing ceremony the Rayat Bahra University was represented by Prof BS Satyal, Registrar, Rayat Bahra University, and Eminent Physicians, USA through Healthcare Info Systems which was represented by Vijay Sonam, Chief Growth Officer, Deputy Director (India) for Haspatal Programme.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Dr Gurfateh Singh, Head, University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Prof Neena Mehta, Dean of Academic, Rayat Bahra University.

As part of MoU there are responsibilities given to the two parties which include sharing the list or details of final year or passed out pharmacy students who can be eligible for the company requirements, assure that students are eligible for the course and verify the registration of the student in the appropriate University course work, review job description of the company to determine appropriateness of responsibilities for the students, share eligible or shortlisted student’s documents and credentials to the company etc.

It will be followed by the responsibilities of the company which comprise of intake of final year pharmacy students and passed out students as per company’s requirements, appointing a team member with appropriate authorities to coordinate with the university, sharing details and profile of the company which is to be shared with the students and dedicated officer of the university.

The MoU envisages that the students would participate in all relevant interviews, orientation meetings and training required by the company, working on a schedule arranged by the company, always under the supervision of the reporting manager, meeting with the university faculty supervisor as needed to discuss placement progress etc.
