Rayat Bahra University alumni meet a nostalgic affair

MOHALI: A sense of nostalgia filled the air as the alumni of the Rayat Bahra University interacted with their old classmates now working in different parts of the country and abroad as they participated in e-Alumni Meet 2021 of the Rayat Bahra University here today.

The e-Alumni Meet 2021 was organised to connect alumni with their friends in this pandemic and share their experiences via Zoom App and streamed live on YouTube.

The event organized under guidance of Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra and Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh was also attended by Vice-President Gurinder Singh Bahra, Registrar Prof BS Satyal and Dean of Academic Affairs Prof Neena Mehta.

Over 1, 100 alumni registered for E-Alumni Meet while more than 1400 students viewed the event on YouTube. More than 55 alumni speakers from schools, departments of the university shared their views on Zoom App which included alumni from various sectors like MNCs, entrepreneurs, corporate houses, hospitals, well known institutes and universities etc.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Parvinder Singh formally inaugurated the meet and it was followed by ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Vice-Chancellor, along with Registrar Prof BS Satyal, Dean Academics Affairs Prof Neena Mehta and Dr Gurfateh Singh, Head of the University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chief Alumni Committee of the RBU.

The Alumni meet was divided into two sessions. The inaugural session was anchored by Suheta Tikoo, Assistant Professor in the University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dean Student Welfare Dr. simerjit kaur welcoming the participants motivated the alumnus to come forward and share their views.

Dr Gurfateh Singh, Head, University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, initiated the second session of the event. He welcomed all the alumni members of Rayat Bahra Group to share their memories and experiences as they were of importance to the present students.

The alumni members participated enthusiastically and shared their views one by one. They were drawn from different sectors like MNCs, industries, academics, research, entrepreneurs, and hospitals etc.

They were all praise for the University, the staff and HODs of their departments and recalled the key role they had played in shaping their career. Most of them turned nostalgic as they re-lived their memories on the campus and shared these with their friends and old classmates.

Some of them shared their own experience of success and underlined how hard work mentorship of senior faculty members had stood them in good stead.

Video clips were also shared at the end of those students who were not able to attend the meet live because of their job and time gap as they were settled abroad.

Ravneet Kaur, HOD, University School of Hotel Management, Pinki, HOD, University School of Law, and Sonia Vatta from Engineering Department, interacted with the former students. Prof Neena Mehta, Dean Academics Affairs, proposed a vote of thanks.

She said that it was a proud moment for the university to see its alumni working in various MNCs like TCS, Bangalore, Pfizer, Arkansas State University, America, Paraxel International Pvt. Ltd. USA, Abha Biotechnology Pvt. Ltd. Noida, Alkum Laboratories, Baddi, Accuscript Medical Writing Pvt. Ltd. USA, My Chemist Pvt. Ltd Australia, Adtiya Birla Group and Sun Pharma Pvt Ltd.
